History

Thirteen years after its independence from the British Empire, the deed of gift of a plot of land for the construction of a Maison de l’Inde within the Cité Internationale Universitaire de Paris was signed in January 1960 by the Indian government, at the instigation of the Indian Ambassador to France, Mr Nedyam Raghavan, and in the presence of Professor Humayun Kabir, then Minister of Scientific Research and Cultural Affaires of India.

Resident Life

In keeping with the common admissions policy of the Cité Internationale Universitaire de Paris, the Fondation de la Maison de l’Inde accepts Master’s and PhD students as well as postdoctoral fellows in all fields, in addition to a small number of artists or high-level sportspersons. While students are accepted for one academic year, renewable twice, postdoctoral fellow are accepted for a maximum of two years from the date of arrival.

Intellectual & Cultural Life

Apart from providing housing for postgraduate students and researchers from India, as well as other countries through the mixing policy of the Cité Internationale Universitaire de Paris, the missions of the Maison de l’Inde also include the promotion of intellectual and cultural exchanges between peoples.

Bus: 67, 21 Stade Charléty
 

Access by road: boulevard périphérique, exit Porte d’Orleans ou Porte de Gentilly. Access to the park is forbidden to outside vehicles except after obtaining duly justified prior authorization. Vehicles enter through the security post at 27 boulevard Jourdan. For all requests for temporary access, please contact us 48 hours in advance.
