Administration
Statutes
The Fondation de la Maison de l’Inde is a recognized public utility foundation under French law, following the decree of November 26th, 2010. It is one of the 43 residences of the prestigious Cité Internationale Universitaire de Paris, and has a dual mission as defined in its statutes: to provide housing for Indian postgraduate students and postdoctoral fellows, as well as a certain percentage of non-Indians through exchanges with other residences, and to promote peace through intellectual, social and cultural exchanges among peoples. Like other residences on campus, the Fondation de la Maison de l’Inde abides by the Charter of Values and the common rules and regulations of the Cité Internationale Universitaire de Paris.
Governance
The Fondation de la Maison de l’Inde is administered by a Governing Board whose ex officio Chairperson is the Ambassador of India to France. In addition to the Chairperson, other ex officio members of the Governing Board are the Rector-Chancellor of the Universities or Paris, the Chairperson and Delegate General of the Fondation Nationale of the Cité Internationale Universitaire de Paris, and a representative of the Resident Committee duly elected for the year in progress. A number of distinguished “qualified personalities” of Indian or French origin complete the Governing Board.
The day-to-day operations of the Fondation are overseen by a Director named jointly by the Ambassador of India to France, the Rector-Chancellor of the Universities of Paris and the Chairperson of the Fondation Nationale of the Cité Internationale Universitaire de Paris.
The Fondation de la Maison de l’Inde is financially independent as of the present.
