Resident Life
In keeping with the common admissions policy of the Cité Internationale Universitaire de Paris, the Fondation de la Maison de l’Inde accepts Master’s and PhD students as well as postdoctoral fellows in all fields, in addition to a small number of artists or high-level sportspersons. While students are accepted for one academic year, renewable twice, postdoctoral fellow are accepted for a maximum of two years from the date of arrival. In principle, all Indian citizens applying for accommodation at the Cité Internationale Universitaire de Paris are referred to the Fondation de la Maison de l’Inde for admission.
Each year, the Foundation receives several hundred applications (1400+ in 2022-2023), from whom a careful selection is made in order to maintain a balanced student population in terms of sex, educational level, discipline, and economic/social situation, keeping in mind the cultural and linguistic diversity of India.

Fete de la Cite 2024
On 22 April 2024, Prof. Nitin Seth, Director of India-France Centre for Advanced Research (CEFIPRA) addressed Indian students at Maison de l’Inde on theme “Emerging areas of Research and Opportunities for Young Researchers in CEFIPRA.” He emphasised that young researchers in India and France can play an important role in advancing India-France scientific and technological collaboration. The talk was part of lecture series organised at Maison de l’Inde in collaboration with Embassy of India, Paris.

Mixing policy of the Cité Internationale Universitaire de Paris
The Foundation maintains a policy of secularism and religious tolerance. In addition to Indians, the mixing policy of the Cité Internationale Universitaire de Paris allows Indians students to be exchanged with students from other nationalities and houses, promoting a spirit of mutual understanding and enrichment.
The Fondation de la Maison de l’Inde provides accommodation for 184 residents:
104 in the Main building
80 in the Annex building.
In addition, a studio and a 2-bedroom apartment provide temporary housing for visiting artists, academics and family members.
Main Building
All Main building rooms are single rooms of around 12m². All rooms are furnished with a bed, desk, chair and bookshelves, and equipped with a refrigerator, washbasin, telephone (for receiving calls only) and Wi-Fi access. Bedding is provided. Almost all rooms have balconies. Each floor also has a common kitchen and shared toilets and showers.
Annex Building
The Annex building contains 64 single rooms of around 18m², 6 double rooms of around 23m², and 2 large double rooms of around 35m², all with a private toilet and shower. All rooms are equipped with a bed or beds, desk, chairs and bookshelves, as well as a refrigerator, telephone (for receiving calls only) and Wi-Fi access. Bedding is provided. All rooms have a spacious balcony. Each floor also has a common kitchen.
Common Areas
In addition to the kitchens, residents have access to a spacious lobby, a resident lounge (equipped with sofas and carpets, books and games, a TV and a mini kitchen), a well-equipped gym, a play area with a table tennis table and a foosball table, and an outdoor badminton court. The 160-person capacity Indira Gandhi Hall and the 19-person capacity APJ Abdul Kalam Hall are also regularly used by residents for dances, yoga sessions, cultural shows and festivals, research club meetings and various classes, movie screenings etc.
